Conferences
The ODYSSEY Media Group attends journalism conferences including GSPA, SIPA and NSPA. I have attended GSPA three times, I attended SIPA in spring 2016 and 2017 and NSPA in fall 2016. GSPA is always a fun time to learn and bonds with my peers. At SIPA, I have participated in competitions such as the TOP competition and Quiz Bowl. I also grow in closeness to my staff and am always extremely proud of my team's accomplishments and awards at the conference. I also enjoyed NSPA, where I was able to spend quality time with my peers and present with my team.
Quiz Bowl competition
The Quiz Bowl competition at SIPA 2016 was a particularly fun team building activity. The ODYSSEY had various teams compete, and I enjoyed participating with my group (pictured left).
TOP Competition
Three ODYSSEY staff members and I participated in SIPA's Team on-site production (TOP) competition. We were tasked with producing a packages during a three-hour time period based on a prompt and from materials gathered at the SIPA convention such as interviews, photos, etc. Our team collectively wrote the story, I designed the spread, and Co-Editor-in-Chief Aneesa Conine-Nakano made the cartoon. We felt our package came together nicely and it was a great way to bond with each other while also pushing our journalistic abilities.

Editor's retreat
The Editor's Retreat is an ODYSSEY Media Group weekend retreat for editors to make plans for the magazine and website and bond as an edboard. The Editor's Retreat for me solidified my bonds with my fellow editors and showed me how much I am cared for and how much support I have from my team.
Monthly staff bonding
Each section staff (news, sports, etc.) takes turns planning a staff bonding activity each month. This photo features the News staff's pick for January: roller skating. We have also had staff dinners, kickball and a holiday potluck.
