Section Editing

As a section editor sophomore year, I served as a copy editor to my staffers and was able to teach them more about journalistic writing. I edited my staff writer Fajr DeLane's feature profile and helped her with sentence wording and ap style. This year as Co-Editor-in-Chief, I edit web content pieces every week so we can publish them online.

Peer Editing

On staff my junior year, we had enterprise stories in which staff members are assigned an "accountability buddy" to work with and check in on progress, as well as ask for peer editing and advice. Sophomore year, I worked closely with staff writer Valeria Garcia-Pozo and was able to help her with some slight restructuring and sentence wording.

I also edited Staff Writer Connor McCage's review, which was then shortly posted online. His piece mainly needed grammar and AP style fixes.

Shown are also edits I made on Variety Editor Jurnee Louder's profile.

I edited Jurnee's piece and conferenced with her afterwards, touching on ways to give the piece a more solid structure.

HARD COPY MASTER EDITING

When producing magazine issues, our staff prints out hard copies of all the sections to make edits. Below are two examples of section master edits.
