Finding a phamily phavorite
“A Phamily Favorite” is a business profile I wrote on a local family-owned store Phickles Phun Foods. Former Broadcast Editor Karla Dougan and former Visuals Coordinator Julie Alpaugh filmed a video to go along with my story to compose into a package. I helped in some filming for the video and took a photo that ended up going in my story in the magazine as well. This was my first encounter with broadcast journalism, and it made me more comfortable with using a camera and taking video and photos.
Periscope game coverage
I did a lot of coverage of the varsity football team during my first semester as Editor-in-Chief in 2016. One type of coverage consisted of live streaming a few of the games using Periscope, a live streaming app run by Twitter. I was able to be in direct contact with viewers through comments and Tweets, and the highest number of viewers reached at one time was 31.
